Here is where my career as a web developer began. As a humble graduate student, I worked part-time as a student assistant to produce pages for various groups. Below are some examples of my early work. These sites were completed between September of 1994-June of 1996.

Netscape Navigation
Something old ...something new...This is and was my first video. I developed and shot this video at Helix High school in 1995. I edited the video using a Media 100 system (with a 18GB disc array ...big time back then) at SDSU. I originally recorded and edited it during March and April of 1995. This was a student project for my Advanced Design course.

Just for fun, I converted my old VHS tape into a flash video.

Educational Technology Web Course Activities

Understanding Objectives
The Goal Analysis Homepage
Donn Ritchie and I worked on this grant funded project to create a distance learning environment for EDTEC 540. I am particularly proud of these pages because it is here that I first learned computer programming. I did this to increase the interactivity of our site and server. To do so, I developed several small CGI programs using PERL that ran behind the scenes of the server. These were successful and became some of SDSU's first web course activities.

SHOCKER
Dallas Jones and I created a Shockwave entry for the EET (Encyclopedia of Educational Technology). The purpose of our encyclopedia entry was to describe to it's audience the problems and promise of Shockwave by Macromedia. Netscape's plug in allows its audience to view Director movies via the web. If done properly it can be very useful for computer-based-instruction. We concentrated on methods to overcome the limitations of the medium. ( Shockwave required)

The Grossmont College Web Site
I served as the first webmaster for Grossmont College and built their web site. Here I helped faculty and staff put together personal and departmental homepages.
(April 1995 - January 1996)

The Coastal and Marine Institute
CMI paid me to develop their web site. CMI is a rather large organization with roughly thirty different marine-oriented labs. The project was limited so I only developed pages for three of these labs.
(March-May 1995)

The Pacific Estuarine Research Lab (PERL)
This is one of the main labs within CMI. PERLs main job is wetland restoration. Pretty cool place and it also happened to be where my wife worked.
(March-May 1995)

The O'Farrell Web Site
O'Farrell is a technologically adept intercity middle school here in San Diego. I built their first website as a part of a special studies project in conjunction with the student teachers of O'Farrell and Bernie Dodge during the spring of 1995.
